KAMPALA, Uganda – Following the official release of the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination results Friday, the Uganda National Examinations Board has provided two primary digital channels for candidates and parents to access their scores.
To ensure efficient delivery of information, the board has activated its mobile SMS service for the public and an online portal for school administrators.
Checking Results via SMS
The Short Message Service remains the fastest method for individual candidates to receive their performance data. This service is available on all mobile networks in the country.
To check results, users should follow these steps:
- Open the messaging app on any mobile phone.
- Type the keyword PLE followed by a space and the candidate’s full index number. (For example: PLE 001234/001).
- Send the message to 6600.
Each SMS is charged at 500 shillings. UNEB advises users to ensure the index number is typed correctly, including the slash, to avoid errors or multiple charges.
Accessing Results Online
While the SMS service provides individual results, the board has directed headteachers to use the UNEB e-Registration portal to access complete school sets.
School administrators can log in to the portal using their unique center credentials to download and print provisional result slips. This allows schools to begin the secondary school admission process immediately without waiting for physical documents.
Physical Result Slips
UNEB Executive Director Dan N. Odongo clarified that official hard copies of result slips will not be issued at the board’s headquarters in Ntinda. Instead, the board will notify District, Municipal, and City Inspectors of Schools when the physical documents are ready for collection and distribution to the respective examination centers.
The board warned that candidates whose results have been withheld pending investigations into examination malpractice will not be able to access their grades through these digital platforms. Such candidates will be notified through their schools to appear before the UNEB security committee for a formal hearing.
