Makindye – Hon. Allan Ssewanyana has officially announced that he will Contest again for Makindye West Parliamentary seat after expressing dissatisfaction with the results of National Unity Platform’s Election Management Committee which denied him the party flag.

In a Thanksgiving mass held at St Peters Church Gardens in Nsambya, on Thursday, Ssewanyana revealed that he is a loyal Member of National Unity Platform (NUP), but the unfairness in the recently concluded vetting process has forced him to contest against their flag bearer.
“In NUP I expressed interest to Contest for Makindye West Parliamentary seat because I knew who I am, during vetting process
, I answered the questions very well and we were told that the support on ground in the Constituency contributes 60 percent. I was eager to look at my performance (marks) compared to my other colleagues, but unfortunately upto now, the results are no where to be seen.”
Ssewanyana said that it was unfair to sideline…him yet the results on ground clearly show that the people who sent him to Parliament in the previous elections, are eagerly waiting to send him back.
“Since the people of Makindye are not well conversant with the people contesting for Makindye West Member of Parliamentary seat, they have asked me to contest again and represent them. Since am still waiting for the results from the vetting process, for now, I can’t tell you more about which ticket, I will be Contesting on.”
Ssewanyana expressed dissatisfaction with a small group of people who spread several defamatory statements against him and Ssegirinya during their time of incarceration.
“We thank all religious, political leaders and individuals who prayed for us so that we get this relief. it’s unfortunate that my brother Hon. Ssegirinya passed away.” Ssewanyana
Rev.Fr Godfrey Kasasa from St Peters Church Nsambya, during the holy mass, informed the people of Makindye that all leadership comes from God and a good leader is that person who always stand with the oppressed (Electorates).
“if I come and declare my self a leader without people’s favor, then the Lord doesn’t recognize that. A good leader must be respectful, loving, friendly and should avoid wrangles. In Ezikiel 34:22-24 , the Lord said that, I will uplift the priest to lead my people, we are here for purifying our leader and gets the leadership as per God’s will.”
Rev Fr also informed Ssewanyana that the Lord who enabled him to survive jail where he had spent months, it’s the same Lord who will set him free against his oppressors and will also guide him to win the elections.
Hon. Allan Ssewanyana will be Contesting against NUP’s Zahara Luyirika, Independent David Musiri and other candidates.
