
KAMPALA, Uganda — Residents across Kampala should prepare for a significant water supply interruption this Saturday, June 7, 2025. The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) – Kampala Water announced Friday that water services will be unavailable from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. due to planned system maintenance.
The 12-hour shutdown is necessary to conduct routine maintenance activities at the Ggaba Water Treatment Plant’s treatment and electro-mechanical units. Additionally, key primary storage reservoirs at Muyenga and Gunhill Nakasero will undergo maintenance.
The affected areas include a wide swathe of the city and its environs:
- Kampala CBD
- Munyonyo, Buziga, Ggaba Road, Lukuli, Nsambya, Muyenga
- Kololo, Nakawa, Jinja Road, Mutungo, Kyambogo, Banda
- Makerere, Nakulabye, Kanyanya, Kawempe
- Bombo Road, Matuga, Nansana, Bwaise, Nabweru
- Namirembe, Rubaga, Nateete, Bulenga, Buloba and surrounding areas.
NWSC advises all customers to store enough water in advance and use it sparingly during the maintenance period to minimize inconvenience.
