KAMPALA, Uganda — Ecobank Uganda has officially launched “Ellevate by Ecobank,” a new initiative specifically designed to support, empower, and inspire the growth of women-led and women-owned businesses across the country. The program, themed “More than Money,” is a commitment to expanding financial inclusion and promoting the holistic well-being of Ugandan women entrepreneurs.

Grace Muliisa, managing director of Ecobank Uganda, emphasized the bank’s deep conviction that “women deserve more than financial products; they deserve opportunity, access, and peace of mind.” She stated that “Ellevate” is the platform built to deliver this comprehensive support, providing what women truly need to thrive in their ventures.

The initiative brings several key benefits to women entrepreneurs. Financially, it offers unsecured loans of up to $50,000 for qualifying businesses, alongside women-friendly bank accounts, convenient digital payment solutions, and various investment products. Beyond direct financing, Ellevate provides robust network support, including access to specialized business masterclasses, leadership training, mentorship programs, and assistance with digital visibility. Participants will also receive invitations to exclusive networking and business forums, fostering a strong community. For market access, Ecobank will promote these businesses on its various platforms, including MyTradeHub, and facilitate instant fund transfers to 33 other African markets, opening doors to wider trade. Additionally, women entrepreneurs will benefit from preferential support, such as access to premier banking lounges and tailored wealth management advisory services.

Elizabeth Mwerinde Kasedde, head of Commercial Banking at Ecobank Uganda, reiterated the sentiment that “women want more than money; they want mentorship, wellness, learning opportunities, and community.” She characterized “Ellevate” as Ecobank’s direct answer to this demand, stating it represents the bank’s investment in the future of Uganda’s economy by empowering one woman at a time.

The launch of Ellevate by Ecobank Uganda solidifies the bank’s position as a progressive financial institution dedicated to enhancing the banking experience for women. It also aligns with the broader pan-African vision of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, its parent company, which operates across more than 35 African countries and aims to be a catalyst for growth, inclusion, and purpose-led leadership throughout the continent.
