Lagos, Nigeria – The African Women in Media (AWiM) and Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) will host a webinar on October 3, 2024, to address the persistent gender gap in media representation. The virtual event, scheduled for 10:00 AM (GMT+1)/12:00 PM (GMT+3), aims to bring together media professionals, journalists, and women experts to explore solutions to this pressing issue.
The webinar, titled “Bridging the Gender Gap in Media Representation,” will feature a panel of renowned experts. Dr. Blessing Agbo Ntamu, a mental health expert and psychologist, will share insights on the psychological implications of underrepresentation. Harriet Atyang, an experienced journalist, will discuss challenges faced by journalists in finding women experts. Hesbon Owilla, State of the Media researcher at Aga Khan University, will provide an overview of the current media landscape. Mrs. Dado Camara, a journalist from Mali, will offer regional perspectives.
Dr. Yemisi Akinbobola, Co-Founder and CEO of AWiM, will moderate the session, ensuring a thought-provoking and engaging discussion.
