KAMPALA– Clive Barigye Ninsiima, the Police officer who appeared in a viral video assaulting a Supermarket Attendant has finally appeared before Court.

Barigye 34 years old, attached to Counter Terrorism Directorate of Uganda Police, resident of Kyanja, Nakawa Division, Kampala District has been charged before City Hall Magistrates Court with assault occasioning to bodily harm, as well as malicious damage to Property.
Upon being read the charges, Barigye pleaded not guilty in a fully packed court consisting of Atuhumuriize Pellan, (the victim) her relatives as well as Barigye’s friends and relatives.
Hamza Kyamanywa, the defence lawyer in this matter informed court that Nsiima has already reconciled with the victim as he presented applied for bail.
In response, the state prosecution objected to the bail application, saying that investigation are still under way and once released the accused may cause some interference.
The trial Magistrate, Nicholas Asiu, has adjourned the matter to 16th October for bail ruling and the accused person has been remanded to Luzira Prison until the same date.
Prosecution contends that ASP Nsiima Clive Barigye on 7th October 2025, at Shell Petrol Station Kyanja in Kampala district willfully and unlawfully assaulted Atuhumuriize Pellan
It is further alleged, that Barigye on the same date at Shell Petrol Station in Kyanja damaged infinix Hot 10 Mobile phone belonging to Atuhumuriize Pellan.
