KAPCHORWA- The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has commended the Rt. Rev. Paul Kiptoo Masaba, Bishop of Sebei Diocese, for his visionary leadership and interpersonal relations that have greatly transformed Sebei Diocese in his 10 years of episcopal ministry.

Archbishop Kaziimba, who presided over the celebrations today at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Kapchorwa, noted that Bishop Masaba has fulfilled the commitments he made at the start of his ministry in his Charge.
“I led Bishop Masaba’s retreat before he bacame a Bishop and I preached on these grounds on the day of his consecration and enthronement. He pledged to build a Cathedral, a Diocesan Guesthouse, Churches, Schools, and health facilities, alongside preaching the gospel. He has achieved all these. This is the perfect time to appreciate God’s faithfulness, fruitfulness, and hope for the future.” Archbishop Kaziimba said.
The day began with the consecration and dedication of St. Peter’s Cathedral Kapchorwa, the commissioning of a Diocesan Guesthouse named after the first Bishop of Sebei Diocese, the late Rt. Rev. Augustine Salimo, and the commissioning of St. Paul’s Health Centre IV.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, represented by the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, urged Christians to pursue both spiritual and physical needs for a fulfilling life. He emphasized the need to eliminate “moneylessness” by engaging in productive enterprises in agriculture, industries, services, and ICT.
He commended the Diocese of Sebei under Bishop Masaba’s stewardship for spearheading projects that promote job creation, education, health, and poverty eradication, pledging government’s continued support.
Kenya’s Minister for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, representing President William Samoei Ruto, reaffirmed the cordial relations between Uganda and Kenya.
He highlighted cooperation in security, border trade, and taxation, and noted progress on the Suam One-Stop Border Post, which is expected to enhance bilateral trade.

He was accompanied by Hon. Stephen Arap Sang the Governor of Nandi County, Hon. Allan Chesang the Senator of Trans-Nzoia county among other high profile delegates from the Republic of Kenya.
The celebration was attended by Bishops; Rt. Rev. Micheal Okwi Esakan (Kumi), Rt. Rev. Samuel Gidudu (North Mbale), Rt. Rev. Micheal Chorey (Karamoja), Rt. Rev. Hannington Suubi (East Busoga), Rt Rev Patrick Wakula (Central Busoga), Rt. Rev. Samuel Wabulakha, retired Bishop of Mbale and Rt Rev Dr Emmanuel Chemengech of Kitale Diocese in Kenya.
The Service was also attended by mission partners led by The Very Rev. Canon Andrew Rowell the Rector of Christchurch Montgomery and Dean of the Western Deanery of the Gulf Atlantic Diocese.
