LUWERO, Uganda — C-Care Uganda marked an environmental milestone by planting 900 trees at the Bethany Land Institute in Luwero, part of its “ONE LIFE, ONE TREE: Nurturing a Greener Future at C-Care” initiative. This latest effort brings the total to more than 4,000 trees planted, with a goal of 3,000 more by year-end.

The ongoing quarterly campaign dedicates one tree for every baby born at C-Care clinics across Uganda. The 900 trees planted in Luwero represent newborns from the first quarter of 2025.

The event, held in partnership with Tree Adoption Uganda and Bethany Land Institute, drew mothers, C-Care staff, environmental activists and community members united in conservation.

Dr. Miriam Mutero Musinga, general manager for C-Care IHK Uganda, emphasized the campaign’s dual impact. “Today we not only celebrate the beautiful babies born in our clinics but also take deliberate action to create a greener, healthier planet for them,” Musinga said. “Planting a tree for every child born is a meaningful way to honor life and protect our environment.”

Janet Akuguzibwe, project officer at Tree Adoption Uganda, commended C-Care’s commitment to reforestation. “This ongoing partnership with C-Care is a shining example of how private sector actors can play a vital role in environmental conservation,” Akuguzibwe said. “Their passion for sustainable action continues to inspire us and many others.”

Derrick Kavuma, head of the Department of Ecosystem Conservation and Sustainability at Bethany Land Institute, underscored the collective responsibility in restoring Uganda’s natural resources. “We thank C-Care for once again choosing Bethany Land Institute as a site for this important campaign,” Kavuma said. “We call upon more stakeholders, including government bodies, to invest in initiatives that safeguard our ecological future.”

Participating mothers expressed appreciation for the symbolic gesture. One mother noted, “It’s beautiful to know that my child is being honored in such a lasting and meaningful way. This tree will grow with them, and so will the hope for a better world.”

As global concerns about climate change intensify, C-Care’s “One Life, One Tree” campaign aims to demonstrate responsible healthcare and environmental stewardship.
