PARIS — Canal+ Group and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a multiyear international agreement Friday to expand their distribution partnership across Europe and Africa.
The deal includes the continued distribution of HBO Max and the renewal of several Warner Bros. Discovery thematic channels. The move follows the 2025 integration of MultiChoice Group into Canal+, creating a combined entity with 40 million subscribers worldwide.
In Africa, the agreement ensures the continued carriage of 12 channels across MultiChoice territories, including CNN International, Cartoon Network and the Discovery Channel. Some of these networks, such as Cartoon Network, will remain exclusive to the platform in South Africa, Angola and Mozambique.
The European expansion includes the renewal of HBO Max, HBO and Cinemax in Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Additionally, Canal+ will begin distributing HBO Max in Austria and Belgium.
Company officials said the agreement builds on previous 2024 and 2025 contracts in France and Poland that secured early pay-TV windows for Warner Bros. Pictures films and the distribution of local networks like TVN.
Based in France, Canal+ has evolved from a local subscription service into a global media company operating in more than 70 countries. The group also holds stakes in Viaplay in Scandinavia and Viu in Asia.
