JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — CANAL+ has secured broadcast rights for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 (TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2025) through its subsidiary, SuperSport, promising the most comprehensive coverage in the tournament’s history.
The deal, announced Nov. 7, 2025, grants SuperSport the rights to broadcast the 35th edition of the tournament in English and Portuguese-speaking African countries. This ensures that CANAL+ will be the first global broadcaster to offer the massive African football showpiece in French, English, Portuguese, and various local indigenous languages when it kicks off in Morocco on Dec. 21, 2025.
CANAL+ Africa CEO David Mignot said the recent merger with MultiChoice Group unlocked this opportunity.
“Our newly-formed merger with the MultiChoice Group has already unlocked opportunities and benefits for our customers,” Mignot said. “Broadcasting this competition in different languages is a strong way to build closeness with our viewers. For all these reasons, our subscribers will be part of the most spectacular celebration of African football.”
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe hailed the agreement, citing the growing global interest in African football.
“This is an an exciting day for CAF and for African football,” Motsepe said. “In Côte d’Ivoire, the last AFCON attracted approximately 1.5 billion viewers globally. We anticipate that this edition will be an even greater success, reaching new audiences and inspiring the world once again.”
Rendani Ramovha, director of sport content for English and Portuguese-speaking Africa for MultiChoice, noted the enhanced viewing experience.
“As part of the CANAL+ Group, we can take that viewing experience to another level, which means people can expect more compelling viewing, brought to them in a language of their choice,” Ramovha said. SuperSport will feature a dedicated AFCON channel for the tournament.
Viewers can watch SuperSport’s coverage on DStv and GOtv, while CANAL+ subscribers will access the action on CANAL+ Sport and through the CANAL+ app. Coverage will include local language options such as Pidgin and English in Nigeria, Swahili in East Africa, and isiZulu and Setswana in South Africa.
The broadcasts will feature star analysts, commentators, and African football legends covering the action, including top players such as Victor Osimhen, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, and Achraf Hakimi.
