Centenary Bank’s Fabian Kasi named Rotary District 9213 Governor Nominee Designate

KAMPALA, Uganda — Centenary Bank Managing Director Dr. Fabian Kasi has been named the Rotary District Governor Nominee Designate for District 9213, Rotary Year 2027-2028, underscoring the his significant support for Rotary activities in Uganda.

The announcement was made during the Rotary International District 9213’s centennial district conference in Jinja.

Kasi joined the Rotary Club of Kiwatule in 2005 and served as club president in 2011, the same year he became managing director of Centenary Bank.

His selection as district governor nominee designate highlights the long-standing partnership between Centenary Bank and Rotary International.

The bank has contributed over UGX 4 billion to impactful projects, including the Rotary Mengo Blood Bank and the Rotary Centenary Cancer Ward at Nsambya Hospital. Centenary Bank is also a platinum sponsor of the Rotary Cancer Program, supporting the new Cancer Treatment Center at Nsambya Hospital.

Kasi is a leadership catalyst, strategist, governance expert, and mentor. He is recognized for his work in sustainability and was named the best banking CEO in Uganda by the Uganda Bankers Association in 2022.

His corporate directorships include president of the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services and board chairman of Buganda Broadcasting Corporation (BBS) and Agent Banking Company of Uganda (ABC). He also serves on the boards of the Capital Markets Authority, Financial Sector Deepening Uganda, and the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, representing the Africa Chapter. Additionally, he is the chairman of Rotary Uganda Ltd.

Kasi holds a first-class degree in Bachelor of Commerce from Makerere University, an MBA from the University of Newcastle in Australia, and is a Fellow Certified Chartered Accountant of the UK and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. He has completed executive programs at Strathmore Business School and is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Banking and Training of Uganda.

His professional background includes his current role as managing director of Centenary Bank since August 2010. He previously served as chief executive officer of FINCA Uganda Ltd MDI, chief finance officer for Banque Commerciale du Rwanda, and finance and administration manager for FINCA Uganda Ltd. Kasi also worked at the Bank of Uganda for eight years and was the founding CEO of CEO Summit Uganda and the League of East African Directors. He has served on the boards of Financial Sector Deepening Uganda, the Capital Markets Authority, and BAT Uganda, and previously chaired the Uganda Banker’s Association.

Kasi’s professional interests include macroeconomic sustainability, financial innovation, and community development, demonstrated by his support for the cancer ward and blood bank projects.
