KAMPALA-Chief Justice Aliphonse Owiny Dollo has asked the new Judicial officers to be open to learn new things from their colleagues at work.

While officiating the swearing ceremony of one Acting Chief Magistrate and four Acting Grade one Magistrates at Judiciary headquarters in Kampala, Dollo noted that in judicial field learning doesn’t stop.
“Whenever you’re handling a case and you face challenges, don’t hesitate to consult those you have found in the system (You may not give the specific details of the matter but the challenge you have faced). When you find time and am in my chambers, come in and consult me , judicial officers don’t need to make an appointment to meet me.”
Dollo also reminded them that wherever they are dispensing justice (constitutional duty) , they should not accept any interference from anybody regardless of the titles and positions they may hold.
He however cautioned them that once a. complaint is filed before their supervisors, they have a right to recall the file for review or assign it to another judicial officer incase they find it necessary.
Dr. Flavian Zeija , the principal Judge, asked the new Judicial officers to deliver justice to all Ugandans in a manner which will maintain the credibility of Judiciary among the people.
“Shun acts of absentism, laziness , poor time management i.e you’re supposed to be at court by 8am but you end up coming at mid day. People should know the time you are coming to court and you should keep it mind that judgements must be delivered with in 60 days after the hearing has been concluded.”

Her Worship Rosemary Bareebe who represented the Chief Registrar urged the judicial officers to fulfill the hardworkingness they promised in their acceptance letters.
The Magistrates who took oath were; Bakanansa Hilder (Acting Chief Magistrate) , she has been working with Uganda Revenue Authority, Nakiwate Aisha (Acting grade one Magistrate) from Uganda Human Rights Commission, Pepera Edith Ann from Namanya Advocates and Solicitors, Kamanzi Derrick and Kembabazi Achili also from Private legal practice.
