“We are honored to have you visit us and we are grateful that you are open to discussing with us how we can enhance the protection of investors from other countries, particularly the Netherlands,” Nakalema said.

She highlighted the Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP) as a key tool for safeguarding investors against fraudulent activities, noting its role as a gateway to government agencies and a secure reporting mechanism. Nakalema stated that Uganda’s Foreign Direct Investment has increased by 80 percent due to the EIPP’s availability and requested Quispel to promote the portal among Dutch investors.

Ambassador Quispel expressed gratitude to the Ugandan government for fostering a conducive investment climate. She noted similarities between Uganda and the Netherlands, including a favorable climate, and praised Uganda as a top entrepreneurial country globally.

Quispel reiterated the Netherlands’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and continued investment in Uganda’s various sectors.

We see a lot of opportunities in Uganda, not only in agriculture but also in technology, among others,” Quispel said, adding that the Netherlands looks forward to “building a strong economy of Uganda” through increased trade and investment.

Also in attendance were Andrew Byaruhanga, Policy Officer for Trade, Investment and Economic Diplomacy at the Netherlands Embassy; Hiromi Abe, Private Secretary to the President of Uganda on Investment Matters; Arthur Kwesiga, Commissioner ICT and Innovation at Uganda Registration Services Bureau; and Walid Kule, Assistant Commissioner for Business Registration at Uganda Registration Services Bureau.
