Kampala– High Court criminal Division has directed the legal team of Rtd Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye to file their written submissions in response to the witnesses protection application filed by the Prosecution.

On Thursday morning, the Prosecution led by the Assistant DPP Thomas Jatiko informed court that they had filed an application in which they’re seeking orders from court to protect the six witnesses that are set to testify against Dr. Besigye over the charges of treason against him.
The trial judge Emmanuel Baguma gave Dr. Besigye lawyers up to 26th March to file their respective response on the application before the matter comes up on 31st March for further pre-trial conferencing.
Besigye, his aide Hajji Obeid Lutale and a UPDF soldier Capt Denish Olaa Oyar are indicted with charges of treason they allegedly committed in countries of Uganda, Kenya, Switzerland and Greece between 2023 and November 2024.
They have been in detention since November 2024.
