KAMPALA- Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has set the Wednesday, 28th January 2026 as the date at which it will deliver a Ruling on a bail application for Sarah Bireete, the Executive Director for Center for Constitutional Governance (CCG) who is on currently on remand on charges of obtaining and disclosing National Voter’s Information without consent from the Electoral Commission.

The Prosecution team being led by Keko Joan, in their response asked court not to deny her bail on she lacks substantial sureties although she had presented three including Hon. Winnie Kiiza , the former Leader of opposition in Parliament.
Keko told court that the sureties have no clear jobs that they presented to court as they were standing sureties.
The trial Magistrate Nankya Jatiko has therefore adjourned the matter to 28th January to deliver her ruling.
Prosecution alleges that between January and December 2025 at various places within Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso Districts, Sarah Bireete unlawfully obtained or disclosed National Voter’s Information data, which is controlled and processed by the Electoral Commission; thus offending Sec 35 and 2 of the Data Protection and Privacy Act.
