If it had taken a fight, I would have offered myself in your place,” he wrote. “I know you really feared death, often restraining me. You had moved from brother to father. We quietly supposed, that I would go first.”

Dr. Ssentongo also lamented the circumstances of his brother’s death, noting that despite his selfless desire to treat and save the lives of others, Dr. Kiggundu received no treatment himself. “With your selfless desire to treat and save lives of others, you got no treatment,” he wrote. “John! Does death know?”

The burial arrangements for Dr. Kiggundu are as follows: A requiem mass will be held at St. Joseph Lweza Parish on Monday at 1 p.m., followed by a vigil at his home in Zana starting at 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, the body will leave for Masaka in the morning, with a vigil at his ancestral home in Butozi-Masaka starting at 2 p.m.

The burial will take place on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at his ancestral home in Butozi Masaka, preceded by Mass at 2 p.m.

The funeral procession will be led by family members, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Kiggundu, who will gather to pay their respects to the deceased. The burial ceremony will be attended by prominent figures in the medical community, as well as community leaders and members of the public who knew and respected Dr. Kiggundu.
