Ereemye assumes Judiciary PRO office, vows to work closely with journalists

 

Kampala – His Worship James Mawanda Ereemye has on Friday officially commenced duties as the Judiciary Public Relations Officer (PRO) , after receiving the office from His Lordship Jameson Karemani (now a High court judge).

At the hand over ceremony held at Judiciary headquarters in Kampala , Ereemye asked journalists and other media practitioners to support him because he is ready to work with everybody in his new assignment.

“Today opens a new door for me when am commencing the responsibilty as the PRO Judiciary, am happy that i will be interacting with you. I want to promise you total corperation , because i believe that patnerships are key, friendships are vital and supporting each other important , and when we do all those areas then we are all capable of better performance.”

He promised that during his tenure , he will ensure that atleast all Judicial officers are sensitized about the importance of maintaining good working relationship with journalists.

“Am one person who believe that there is nothing that we need to hide as judiciary wherever we are doing right, the public should know. One of the key request i have to you is that wherever we are doing right please amplify it very loud for general public to know.”

Karemani on handing over the office to Ereemye , asked the Journalists to extend to him the same support he received to the incoming so that he can be able to keep as well as improve on the image of Judiciary where necessary.

“I am going to be your ambassador on the other side because i know very well the complaints that you have been reporting to me , like being chased out of court. I will serve as an example to the other people to learn that they can work with you.”

He however promised to continue working close with the media despite of the fact that the Communications Registry. “I will be in Kiboga for my duties and i request any of you when in Kiboga for any assignment , pass by and greet me , i will welcome you.”

The Chief Registrar Sara Langa Siu who officiated the hand over ceremony congratulated both officers upon their new appointments as she promised to work closely with them.

Jameson Karemani was appointed Judiciary Public Relations Officer in 2019 replacing (His Lordship) Vicent Mugabo who had been elevated to High Court Judge.

Karemani was in July this year appointed as High court judge by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on advise of the Judicial Service Commission.

Ereemye is a career Judicial Officer whose experience spans 27 years; growing through the ranks from Magistrate Grade III Trainee, Magistrate Grade II, Magistrate Grade I, Chief Magistrate, Deputy Registrar and Acting Registrar.
