KAMPALA, Uganda — The Uganda National Examinations Board is set to release the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education results this Friday, following a high-level briefing with Education Minister Janet Museveni at State House Nakasero.
A highly placed source told this website that the board’s top leadership arrived at Nakasero at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to present the performance data to the minister. The briefing is a mandatory protocol that precedes the public announcement of national examination scores.
The official release is scheduled for Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. at State House Nakasero. This will be the second set of national exams released in the current cycle, following the recent publication of the Primary Leaving Examination results.
The timing is particularly significant as it marks the first major assignment for the new 13-member UNEB governing board, which was inaugurated Monday. Led by the reappointed chairperson, Prof. Celestino Obua, the board is under immediate pressure to demonstrate the integrity and efficiency of the national assessment system.
“The board’s priority is to ensure a seamless transition and maintain the credibility of our grading,” a source within the examinations body said. “This briefing is the final step in ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned before the public release.”
The 2025 results are a critical barometer for the government’s new competency-based curriculum. This cohort is only the second to be assessed under the system, which incorporates continuous assessment scores from schools for 20% of the final grade.
Data from the 2025 cycle shows a total of 432,025 registered candidates, reflecting a 12.1% increase in enrollment. In a notable shift for the sector, female candidates accounted for 51.5% of the examinees, outnumbering males for the first time in recent years.
