KAMPALA — Facebook has taken down “harmful” content by Makerere University that aimed to misinform the World that Uganda developed a clinical trial of Covid-19 vaccine.

“We removed a post with false information about COVID-19,” Facebook said after deleting a post shared Makerere University.

Facebook has recently warned it will start removing misinformation about coronavirus vaccines as countries around the world start to roll them out.

Facebook’s policy has been to remove false claims about Covid-19 that it says could lead to “imminent physical harm,” such as posts promoting false cures or bogus conspiracy theories.

Uganda said it has concluded two COVID-19 treatment trials.

It has entered that these studies were replicas of what was being studied elsewhere in treatment of the viral respiratory disease.
