Kampala’s Hamz Stadium Nakivubo War Memorial has received official certification from FIFA to host local and international football matches, following the successful installation of its artificial turf. Businessman Hamis Kiggundu, popularly known as Ham, made the announcement on Monday, October 7.

The state-of-the-art Duofilament Mono football turf, installed by renowned Turkish company Nurteks Hali San.ve Tic. A.S, has met FIFA’s stringent “FIFA Quality Programme for Football Turf” standards. After rigorous testing and inspection, FIFA awarded the turf a clean bill of health, valid from October 4, 2024, to October 3, 2027.

A certificate signed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirms the turf’s compliance with international standards. This achievement not only boosts Hamz Stadium’s reputation but also enhances Uganda’s standing in global football.

The certified turf is poised to host various football matches, providing local talent with opportunities to play on FIFA-approved grounds and attracting international teams to Kampala. Three Uganda Premier League clubs have already applied to use the stadium as their home ground for the 2024/25 season.

With FIFA’s endorsement, football fans can expect improved playing conditions, ensuring high-quality matches in the years to come. Hamz Stadium Nakivubo War Memorial’s newfound status is a significant milestone for Ugandan football.
