KAMPALA —Tom Buruku, a former longserving commissioner of the Electoral Commission, is dead.
Buruku died at his home in Garuga on Tuesday morning.
Hillary Madira, a family member, said Buruku succumbed to kidney failure.
Madira said the deceased has been battling with the condition for nearly six years.
Until his demise, Buruku has been working at Ghana’s Consulate in Uganda after leaving the Electoral Commission about six years ago.
At the EC, he served under the tenure of Eng. Badru Kiggundu.
He also served as the Secretary General (1981-85) and Chairperson of Uganda Red-Cross Society (1997-2010).
