Football fans will enjoy free access to the CHAN 2024 third-place playoff at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, after the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) announced it has purchased all 28,000 available tickets for tomorrow’s clash between Sudan and Senegal.

The development, confirmed during a Thursday media briefing, is part of Uganda’s appreciation to fans for their overwhelming support during the country’s historic co-hosting of the continental tournament alongside Kenya and Tanzania.

“This is the way the LOC led by Maama Janet Museveni is saying thank you to all football fans that have made our homeland proud during this historic experience of hosting CHAN 2024 for the very first time,” said Dr. Dennis Mugimba, Chairperson of the LOC Communications and Signage Sub-Committee.

Fans will be required to access their free tickets through the official CAF ticketing portal by using the promo code CHAN3RD instead of making payment. Each person can secure a maximum of three tickets, which will be branded NOT FOR SALE but remain valid and secure for entry.

The LOC also clarified that fewer than 20 fans who had already purchased tickets before the promo code was activated will be contacted individually by CAF to resolve their cases.

Kick-off for the Sudan vs Senegal playoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, with gates opening earlier for a pre-match entertainment lineup featuring Jose Chameleone, John Blaq, Elijah Kitaka, and Vinka. The performances will continue after the game and medal ceremony.

Organizers have urged fans to follow all stadium rules and ensure they present authentic tickets at the gates.

“This will be more than just football; it will be a celebration as we close our hosting chapter of CHAN 2024,” Dr. Mugimba added.
