Arua– Justice has been meted out to Mr. Adriko Caesar alias Manyolo, who was being prosecuted by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for torturing his 11-year-old daughter.

The Chief Magistrate’s Court at Arua on Thursday 26th February 2026, sentenced Mr. Adriko Caesar to 15 years’ imprisonment after he pleaded guilty yesterday to Aggravated Torture.
Mr. Adriko Ceasor, alias Manyolo, on the 19th day of February 2026, at Lia Cell in Arua City, tied his daughter to a tree with a rope and burnt her back, chest, and thighs with a molten jerrycan, as a punishment for returning less change after purchasing groceries. Her loud cries attracted neighbors, who came to rescue her.
The matter was reported to the police, who charged Mr. Adriko Caesar with Aggravated Torture under the Prevention and Prohibition of Torture Act.
As Senior State Prosecutor Genere Thomas was prosecuting Mr. Adriko Caesar before Chief Magistrate Obol Oroya Conrad, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecution prayed for a harsh and deterrent sentence, given the manner of cruelty visited on the child of tender age who sustained physical and emotional harm.
The court found the custodial sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment fit for Mr. Adriko.
This conviction and sentence represent accountability and reinforce a clear message: the criminal justice system will pursue crimes against children with the utmost seriousness.
