Police detectives are looking for Mohammed Hamid, the owner and proprietor of Hilton Hotel, also known as Aya Hotel, over allegations of assaulting and torturing his house maid.
The maid has been identified as Wadida Hagati who was working at the home of Hamid found in Kololo, a Kampala suburb.
According to police sources, Hagati worked at the residence of Hamid from May up to October 2022.
Sources add that one day, Hamid assaulted the maid and subjected her to indecent touches after accusing her of stealing his money.
“That he went straight to her bedroom and hit her on head using his pistol and forcefully undressed her, started touching her breast and private parts, saying that he was searching for his money and after doing whatever he wanted, he left the lady inside the room naked,” sources investigating the matter told this website.
They further said that the maid was helped by another woman, who found her naked inside the room, and helped her get clothes and dressed her up.
According to police sources, Hamid immediately ordered his security team to chase the maid from his home without even anything of her possession.
The maid then reported to Kira Road Police Station where a case of indecent assault and Torture vide, SD 96/20/19/2022, was opened.
Police then subjected the maid to medical examination, which confirmed that she had been assaulted and tortured.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the case.
“It’s true the Lady reported the case of indecent assault and torture at Kira Road Police Station,” he said, adding that investigators have seen summoned Hamid for statement recording but he has ignored their summons.
