ICEA LION reaffirms commitment to inclusive education in Uganda

MASAKA, Uganda — ICEA LION joined Masaka School for the Deaf on Saturday, March 22, 2025, to celebrate the school’s 20th anniversary, marking two decades of dedication and transformative impact in the lives of deaf children across Uganda.

As proud partners, ICEA LION joined Masaka School for the Deaf in commemorating this significant occasion, re-affirming the company’s commitment to ensuring access to quality education for all.

The team, led by the Chief Executive Officer of ICEA LION Life Assurance, Emmanuel Mwaka, and Chief Operating Officer, Anne Njeri, had the honor of meeting Her Royal Highness Queen Sylvia Nagginda, the Nnaabagereka of Buganda, during the celebrations.

ICEA LION recognizes that true empowerment goes beyond words. The company has been a steadfast partner of Masaka School for the Deaf, supporting their netball team with essential resources and providing scholastic materials to ensure every student has the tools to learn.

Through this collaboration, ICEA LION has become a pillar of support, re-enforcing the institution’s mission to nurture and educate children with hearing impairments.

“For twenty years, Masaka School for the Deaf has illuminated the path for deaf children, empowering them through education and vocational training,” said Emmanuel Mwaka, CEO at ICEA LION Life Assurance. “We are honored to stand alongside them in this celebration and reaffirm our commitment to supporting inclusive education and opportunities for all.”

The 20th-anniversary celebration served as a moment to reflect on the countless lives impacted, the barriers broken, and the future possibilities unlocked through education and partnership. It highlighted the power of collaboration in building a society where every voice — spoken or signed — is heard, valued, and empowered.
