KAMPALA– The judiciary has refuted allegations from the general public indicating that courts of law connive with the government to persecute political prisoners.

Many politicians across the country especially those from the opposition have been charged with several counts of illegal drilling, unlawful possession of military attires and treason, and many are currently in prison.
Addressing the media ahead of the 2nd National court open day scheduled to take place on Monday at Kololo Airstrip, the principal judge Jane Frances Abodo noted that judiciary is an independent institution whose mandate is to welcome all categories of cases brought before courts of law and handles them with impartiality.
” As the judiciary we don’t look at political parties to determine cases, we are an independent institution and such allegations against us are totally baseless”
Abodo also called on court users across the country to come at Kololo ceremonial grounds on Monday 15th December 2025, to interact with the judicial officers as one of the ways to improve service delivery.
” There will be a matching from Judiciary headquarters here, to Kololo grounds and we’re eagerly waiting for the court users to have an interaction with you over justice delivery and get feedback from them” noted Abodo
The acting chief registrar Pamela Lamunu urged the court users to come and have an engagement with judiciary management to have feedback on access to justice.
” Our message to the public is very simple, the Judiciary is yours, please participate to this open court day event so that we hear from you” Lamunu said
