Kampala– The Judiciary has finalized the process to commence hearing of all election petitions which were filed by individuals who were not satisfied with the results of the 2021 Elections.

According to His Worship James Mawanda Ereemye, Judiciary Spokesperson, they received a total of 118 Election Petitions at Parliamentary and Local Government level from across the country.
“The process of resource allocation is on and we shall ensure that we hear all the petitions within six months prescribed period. Although Judicial officers have a lot of cases pending before them, election petitions are given priority.” Remarked Ereemye
He also noted that the Principal Judge (Supervisor of High Court), has performed well her duties in ensuring that the petitions kick off in time.
“We have finalized training of Court of Appeal Justices on Election Petitions because we know that all those that will not be satisfied will be appealing before Court of Appeal.”
Ereemye added that they will be doing whatever it takes to ensure all Election Petitions are heard and disposed off in time.
