KAMPALA, Uganda — Organizers of Auto Show Kampala have expanded the 2026 event to three days, placing vehicle inspection and road safety at the heart of the exhibition.
The show will run from July 17 to 19 at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. The announcement came Wednesday during a media launch at the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Winstone Katushabe, the ministry’s commissioner for transport regulation and safety, said during the launch that road safety is a shared responsibility that begins with the mechanical condition of a vehicle.
A roadworthy vehicle is not optional; it is a responsibility, Katushabe said. He added that the ministry partnered with the event to engage the public and private sectors on compliance and safety standards.
The 2026 theme aligns with government efforts to reduce accidents by strengthening vehicle inspection systems. The event will feature innovations in safety technology alongside traditional automotive displays.
Allen Ssempa, strategic partnerships lead for Auto Show Kampala, said the expansion reflects the event’s growing influence. She noted that the partnership with the transport ministry adds depth to the show beyond typical vehicle displays.
The event is expected to host automotive brands, dealers and regulators. It will include live demonstrations, expert panels and test drives.
Auto Show Kampala is an annual event that brings together manufacturers, insurers and car enthusiasts. It serves as a platform for new car launches and discussions on the future of transport in Uganda.
