KAMPALA —A war is brewing up again as St. Balikuddembe Market interim chairperson Susan Kushaba has vowed to resist any attempt to distablise traders by people who ‘forcefully want to return terror’.

Ms. Kushaba who has a backing of traders in Owino is reportedly unmoved by threats—with a close source telling this website she continues to carry out her work despite a letter from Kampala Minister Minsa Kabanda.

Minister Kabanda last week in letter said she had dissolved interim leadership committees in St. Balikuddembe Market, Nakasero Market and Wandegeya, a development that has since angered traders.

Minister Kabanda addressed the letter to Kampala Capital City Authority Executive Director Ms. Dorothy Kiasaka and asked her to personally study the matter and implement.

Kampala City Commissioner Hawa Namugenyi Ndege on Friday raided Owino in what has been described as an attempt to usurp the powers of the Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka and in the process unfairly undermine KCCA.

“She is unbothered about the threats. Traders believe in her because in the little time she has been there, things have very much changed,” a source told this on Tuesday.

Ms. Kushaba personally sent a stern warning to both RCC Hawa Ndege and Kampala Minister Minsa Kabanda and warned them against disturbing the peace of traders.

NRM Director for Mobilization and Cadre Development Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde recently assured traders that government will protect them against mafias who are trying to take control of market by force.

“I assure you that we will take the responsibility of meeting the Minister for Kampala and the Executive Director of KCCA to give them this feedback that you have given me, ” Ms. Seninde said.
