KCB Bank Uganda successfully hosted the second edition of the KCB East Africa Golf Tournament at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa under the theme, “Roar on the Green.”
Organised in partnership with ICEA LION Insurance, Kenya Airways, CFAO, and Ruby Hospital, the tournament attracted more than 180 golfers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi, reinforcing its status as a premier regional golfing event.
The competition was open to golfers with valid handicaps and registered CDH IDs. Participants competed in four-ball teams under the Stableford scoring format, which rewards consistent and strategic play. Participation was free, with players only responsible for caddie fees.
Corporate partners enhanced the tournament experience through various offerings. ICEA LION Insurance showcased its Clubman’s Insurance package tailored for golfers, while Kenya Airways, the official airline partner, rewarded the winning four-ball team with tickets to the tournament grand finale in Nairobi later this year. CFAO offered a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series as the Hole-in-One prize, while Ruby Hospital provided complimentary medical consultation vouchers to all participants.
Speaking at the event, KCB Bank Uganda Managing Director Edgar Byamah said the tournament reflects the bank’s commitment to strengthening regional connections and building lasting relationships across East Africa.
“Golf, like banking, is built on precision, integrity, and a long-term perspective. Through this tournament, we are proud to bring together the best of East Africa while fostering meaningful business and community networks,” Byamah said.
Golf Director Theodor Van Rooyen noted that the competition highlighted teamwork and excellence as Uganda’s top qualifiers prepare for the grand finale in Nairobi.
On the course, KCB Group 1 emerged overall winners with an impressive 110 Stableford points. The winning team comprised Lawrence Kimathi, Banza Matsiko, Mark Namanya, and Moses Matsiko.
Ernest Rukundo claimed the men’s individual title with 41 points, while Berna Musanabera won the ladies’ category with 35 points.
The tournament also underscored KCB Bank Uganda’s commitment to sustainability through its Go Green Campaign. Ahead of the event, the bank planted 300 trees at Serena Kigo as part of its nationwide target of planting 15,000 trees to support environmental conservation.
The event concluded with a vibrant 19th Hole All-White Party, bringing together golfers, partners, and guests to celebrate the day’s achievements and send off Uganda’s qualifiers ahead of the regional finale in Nairobi.
