Kisoro district authorities have rejected 50 goats from Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries for being in poor health conditions.

The rejected goats were meant to be given to residents who were evacuated from Kyotsa Bay Gitundwe wetlands in Nyakinama and Nyakabande sub counties respectively in Kisoro district.

Dr. Herbert Ngabo Bubasha, the Kisoro District Veterinary Officer says the rejected goats were in poor health with respiratory problems, thick mucus discharge and they had many ticks.

“These goats can infect others with diseases if allowed into the district,” he added.

The supplier of the goats, Dr. Frank Mugisha attributed the weakness of the goats to fatigue due to long distance as he challenged the district veterinary officer to do clinical tests to ascertain the health condition of the goats.

The goats were procured by the Ministry of Agriculture to support reformed wetland encroachers of Kyotsa bay and Rutundwe in Nyakinama and Nyakabande sub counties respectively.

The beneficiaries are also to get over70 piglets from ministry.
