MAKERERE -KAVULE– National Unity Platform (NUP) has declared lawyer Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola as their candidate in the forthcoming Kawempe North by elections.
Nalukoola has defeated nine other people who had expressed interest to take the Party ticket in the forthcoming elections to replace Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya who passed away recently.
While handing over the party flag to Nalukoola at NUP headquarters at Makerere Kavule on Tuesday, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi, the Party President called upon all members to mobilize support for their candidate to take up the seat.
“Our dear candidate we congratulate you. We have trust in you and investigations have shown that you have difference from all other people who have been vying for this seat. We shall continue watching you by your actions , even those without spects will look for them.”
He commended Umar Magala for his conduct through out the process which has pulled out the image of true democracy.
“We are not heading for the campaign but a battle. The 2026 elections process will start from Kawempe, we don’t want just the Kawempe seat because zwe have been having it , but we want to use this to election for the search of the other big office.
Nalukoola in his maiden speech,
Expressed gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting him with this responsibility and promised to lead the fight of ensuring that NUP retains this position.
“Am glad that out of all challenges, the Party Electoral Commission has come out clearly with a fair process. I promise to work with all those contenders in promoting NUP in Kawempe.”
Nalukoola also promised that he came prepared to either win or be defeated , because in a Democratic process there is always a winner and a loser.
