Makindye, Kampala– Former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has asked Court to allow him receive further medication from as abroad as recommended by the Doctors from Mulago Hospital.

Unlike the previous sitting where he appeared physically in Court, today he has appeared on Zoom and he personally made some submissions before Makindye Chief Magistrates Court.
“I have a … residual mild cylindrical bronchitis, which is a permanent damage on my lungs, and once I’m in a place with limited oxygen, I suffer breathlessness.”
He stated that if he not given the required medical attention as advised by the Consultants from Mulago Hospital, it will appear like he has been condemned to death.
“All I can say to Allah who created me to take without a lot of pain. If I can make my last prayer, instead of taking me through all this pain, I should be put on palliative care so that I die with less pain.”
Lukwago added that although he knows it that it is a must for all of us to die, but he deserves atleast a less painful death.
The last time when this matter was supposed to proceed, Lukwago was not brought to Court on grounds that he was still receiving medical treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital as per the orders of Court.
The matter has been adjourned to 16th July 2026.
Lukwago is the lawyer to Col (Rtd) Dr. Kiiza Besigye and his aide Hajji Obeid Lutale facing Treason Charges before High Court in Kampala.
Erias is facing charges of Misprision of Treason, where he is acused of knowing the plot to over throw government and he didn’t report to the authorities.
Prosecution alleges that, between 2021 & 2024 in Nairobi, Lukwago together with others allegedly became aware of treason-related plans but didn’t report to the relevant authorities.
