“Wherever you’re asked to provide 2 to 3 feet from your land, for road expansion during the upgrading process, kindly give it out because it will save you, your family and community from a number of hazards like dust, flooding etc. In places where we have put tarmac roads, the prices of buildings and land increases or doubles which is an added advantage.” Remarked Sserunjogi

The Mayor, expressed concern on some community members who sabotage government projects by seeking huge compensations which has led to cancellation of many projects.

“We received funds to upgrade Jacana Road , the process was moving on well , until when one of the residents known as General parts (RIP) refused to offer a few feet for road expansion as his neighbors had done. The rest of the road was tarmacked , living alone that small part and we decided to use the money for other purposes as the Division.”

Part of Jakana road which was not tarmacked as a result of misunderstanding between the Land Lord and government.

He asked the local leaders to always sensitize their communities about the benefits of supporting development projects like upgrading of murram roads to tarmac roads and construction/ expansion of drainage channels.

“We decided as the Division, to issue out certificates to all those who will offer the few meters from their land to government free of charge during road construction as a souvenir which they will show to their grand Children and great grand children that they contributed to the development of their areas. You shouldn’t forget that government doesn’t include compensation package on budgets of upgrading most of the feeder roads.”

The local leaders commended Sserunjogi for serving all people of Kawempe equally without relying on any political affiliation.

After the field tour , the leaders of Kawempe from LC.1 level to Divisional level converged at the council hall, where they  engaged in  deliberations about the coming five year strategic plan.
