NAKAWA– Makerere University Business School graduates and continuing students have been asked to prioritize clean energy and research as the future direction to social economic transformation.

Dr. Vincent Ssenono an official from the Uganda National Bureau of Statistics made the emphasis during the Energy symposium held at MUBS Campus in Nakawa where the several key stakeholders in the energy space showcased contributions of business to business, policy and research.
He therefore called upon the academia, to engage in clean cooking technology and policies, to not only address public health and environmental challenges, but also offer significant business, research and gender inclusion opportunities.
The MUBS Deputy principal, Dr. Racheal Mindra Katoroogo noted that the institution mandate is to carry out research, create knowledge disseminate it and support the government to take decisions that are people centered.
“We are encouraging researchers to disseminate their findings to the country to support data based decision making. Research foster innovation in terms business model
i.e for the bankers , the moment you do research, you understand the problems people have and the gaps in the market, then banks develop products that are relevant to the consumers needs.”
Katoroogo further added that, as MUBS, they are not only into business and management, but they are focused at creating a place where business models are developed.
The symposium attracted academia from Norwegian University of Life Sciences, University of Dar es Salaam and Norwegian University of science and Technology.
