KAMPALA — Opposition leader Bobi Wine has described President Museveni as a hypocrite and accused him of delivering an address full of blatant lies.
Bobi Wine said the President spoke like an apposition leader against his own government.
Bobi Wine whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu was reacting to Mr. Museveni’s Saturday night address, in which the Head of State said his administration’s human rights record is incomparable to any in the world.
“The NRM never believes in revenge. Nobody should be in the uniform (of armed forces) without respecting Ugandans. You are not allowed to beat anyone…not even criminals,” President Museveni said.
In a controversial address, the President also said that the issue of human right was one of the main reason as to he launched a bush war and that the main reason why people should be in leadership is to serve interests of the people not their own.
‘‘This prisoner was beaten. Why do you beat a prisoner? Because you are too lazy to investigate…but I don’t agree with these legal fellows. Maybe the torture was a mistake but then the crime was a bigger mistake by these confused people,’’ he added.
Commenting after the address, Mr. Wine made his feelings known, and “isn’t it unfortunate that we have such a hypocrite in charge of our country”.
“How can he even speak blatant lies with a straight face?
“I can imagine how the victims of his brutality feel as they watch him shamelessly spew out lies, completely unconcerned about their plight”.
Bobi Wine sent a message of solidarity to all victims of torture, illegal detentions and abductions, and assured them that there will be a day of justice.
“There will be justice for all who have been assassinated and murdered in cold blood by his regime of blood
“Today he is speaking like an opposition leader against his own regime because of the pressure all of you have mounted against his murderous regime. He knows what awaits him; seeing his friend Omar Bashir in the ICC waiting lounge! Nothing, absolutely nothing will save him from the fate of all despots, past and present!”.
