The Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Works and Transport, has announced the temporary closure of the Nateete–Nakawuka Road for three months effective 15th May 2026.

According to a press statement signed by Mr. Bageya Waiswa, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, the closure is intended to allow contractors to carry out drainage culvert works under the ongoing road upgrade project.
The affected section stretches from the Mutundwe Road junction to the Old Masaka Road junction. Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes including Old Masaka Road, Masaka Road, Entebbe Road through Kajansi, as well as the Mutundwe and Wankulukuku connections.
Bageya noted that the works are aimed at improving drainage, reducing flooding, and enhancing the durability of the road infrastructure.
Road users have also been urged to follow traffic guidance and directional signage throughout the construction period.
