The 2026 NCBA Auto Show has officially opened at Kololo Independence Grounds, with organisers and government calling for safer vehicles, responsible road use and greater access to vehicle financing as Uganda’s automotive industry continues to grow.
Running from July 17 to 19 under the theme “Safer Vehicles, Safer Roads, Safer Journeys,” this year’s edition is the first to be held over three days and has attracted leading vehicle dealers, manufacturers, mobility solution providers, government agencies, financial institutions and automotive enthusiasts.
NCBA Bank Uganda is the Platinum and Official Title Sponsor of the exhibition, using the platform to showcase its Asset Finance solutions aimed at making vehicle ownership more affordable for individuals and businesses.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, NCBA Bank Uganda Executive Director Julius Konyani said the bank remains committed to supporting customers through innovative financing solutions that drive economic growth.
“At NCBA, we believe that mobility is a catalyst for growth. Whether it is an individual purchasing their first vehicle or a business expanding its fleet, access to the right financial solutions creates new opportunities,” Konyani said.
“Our continued partnership with the Auto Show reflects our commitment to supporting Uganda’s automotive industry while making vehicle ownership more attainable for our customers.”
He encouraged visitors to engage the bank’s specialists at the exhibition to learn more about financing options available for personal and commercial vehicles.
Head of Asset Finance Adad Iraguha said the Auto Show offers an ideal platform to connect potential buyers with practical financing solutions.
“Whether you’re looking for a personal vehicle, a commercial vehicle or a fleet solution, our team is on-site to provide expert guidance and financing solutions that make ownership simple, flexible and affordable,” Iraguha noted.
NCBA’s Asset Finance package offers up to 90 percent financing for both new and used vehicles, flexible repayment periods and competitive interest rates for individuals, businesses and fleet operators.
Representing the Minister of Works and Transport, Fred Byamukama, Senior Road Safety Officer James Katunguka underscored the importance of road safety, describing the exhibition as more than a showcase of vehicles.
“This event is more than an exhibition of vehicles; it is a platform for promoting road safety, innovation and responsible mobility. The Ministry of Works and Transport is proud to support initiatives that raise public awareness about vehicle safety and responsible road use,” Katunguka said while delivering the minister’s message.
He noted that while government continues to invest in road infrastructure, strengthen traffic law enforcement and improve vehicle inspection systems, reducing road crashes requires collective action from both the public and private sectors.
The ministry urged motorists to ensure their vehicles remain roadworthy through regular maintenance, use of quality spare parts, functional brakes, good tyres, working lights and consistent use of seat belts.
“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility,” the minister’s message stated, adding that “Safe vehicles save lives” and that “A roadworthy vehicle is the first step towards a safe journey.”
NCBA Bank’s Head of Marketing, Edgar Tusiime, said the exhibition provides an opportunity for the bank to engage customers beyond traditional banking services while promoting financial empowerment.
The three-day event features luxury and everyday vehicles, electric vehicles, motorcycles, vintage classics, drifting, gymkhana competitions, BMX stunt displays, gaming and technology experiences, road safety education sessions and family entertainment.
Visitors to the NCBA pavilion can also receive on-site guidance from relationship managers on vehicle financing solutions designed to make ownership more accessible and affordable.
