Masaka- State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) working together with Uganda Police and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Friday

arraigned notorious land grabber Zulaika Nakabiri before the Masaka Chief Magistrate’s Court on various charges related to land grabbing in different parts of Masaka.
Nakabiri was jointly charged with Bugembe Edrisa, Dumba Abdu Swaburu, and Makumbi Abbey. The accused have allegedly terrorized residents for a long time by assaulting them, criminally trespassing on their land, unlawfully occupying their property, and destroying crops, trees, houses, and other property.
These have denied the charges read to them and since the Prosecution Informed court that investigations in the matter are still underway, they have been remanded until 13/08/2026.
Meanwhile, Ntale Godfrey, the LC I Chairperson of Misaala Cell, together with Juuko John, has also been charged and remanded on charges of theft and conspiracy to defraud.
The two allegedly deceived members of the public by claiming they could help them access PDM funds.
One of the victims, Ntuumwa Elvis, approached them seeking assistance to apply for the funds. Juuko filled out the application in the presence of Ntale and instructed Ntuumwa to register a new SIM card. After obtaining the SIM card’s mobile money PIN, they fraudulently confiscated the SIM card and later withdrew UGX 1 million that had been disbursed to the victim.
When Ntuumwa realized he had not received the funds and failed to get a satisfactory explanation from the two, he reported the matter during the ongoing “Expose the Corrupt” Baraza held in Masaka. They have also been remanded until 13/08/2026.
These arrests and prosecutions stem from complaints raised by residents during the ongoing “Expose the Corrupt” campaign led by the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahare, in Masaka.
