Jinja– The top management of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), led by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Lino Anguzu, conducted an inspection of ODPP stations in the Jinja Region from December 10 to 12, 2025. The exercise was aimed at ensuring effective, efficient, and accountable delivery of criminal justice services.

The inspection covered the Jinja Regional Office, Resident State Attorney offices in Jinja, Iganga, Kamuli, Bugiri and Mayuge, as well as Resident State Prosecutor offices in Buyende and Namayingo. During the visits, the top management assessed operational performance, reviewed compliance with prosecutorial standards, and engaged staff on service delivery and institutional expectations.
Addressing staff, Mr. Anguzu emphasized the need for quality and ethical prosecutions, urging prosecutors to sanction only cases that merit prosecution. He reminded them of their constitutional mandate to uphold justice and maintain public trust.
The DPP cautioned against reconciling cases involving serious criminal offences, noting that such practices undermine the administration of justice and encourage impunity. He also stressed the importance of proper records management, teamwork, and positive engagement with the public.
Mr. Anguzu reiterated the ODPP’s mission of providing professional, impartial, and responsive prosecution services that promote public confidence and contribute to national development.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Directors of Public Prosecutions—Mr. James Owere Odumbi, Mr. John Baptist Asiimwe, and Mr. George William Byansi—as well as the Permanent Secretary, Ms. Agnes Kainza Nzogi, and the Principal Policy Analyst, Ms. Viola Tucungwire.
Overall, the visits focused on strengthening accountability, addressing operational challenges, and reinforcing professional standards to improve efficiency and public confidence in the criminal justice system. The engagement also included a team-building and bonding session between top management and staff of the Jinja Region.
