KAMPALA, Uganda – Old Mutual Life Assurance has partnered with Airtel Money and fintech firm NxtPe to simplify how customers in Uganda pay their insurance premiums. The new system allows policyholders to make instant and secure payments via their Airtel Money mobile wallets.
A key feature of the integration, announced at an event in Kampala, is the ability for customers to establish recurring premium payments directly from their Airtel Money accounts. This eliminates the need for traditional bank standing orders, which can be less convenient for many users.
Joshua Akena, Head of Operations for Old Mutual, stated at the launch that the partnership aims to enhance customer convenience. “With NxtPe and Airtel Money, our customers can now pay their life insurance premiums with a few taps, whether they are at home or on the go. The option to set up automatic payments from their Airtel Money wallet also provides greater control and peace of mind.”
The collaboration aligns with Airtel Money’s broader goal of expanding financial inclusion and digitizing the Ugandan economy. Japhet Aritho, Managing Director of Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda Limited (AMCUL), emphasized the partnership’s impact. “At Airtel Money, we are focused on making everyday financial services simpler for all Ugandans. This collaboration with Old Mutual and NxtPe reflects our commitment to increasing insurance access through digital solutions.”
