KAMPALA, UGANDA — Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda and Rotary Uganda have officially launched a new digital group funeral plan, offering tailored and affordable financial protection to members of Rotary Districts 9213 and 9214. The partnership, announced recently, aims to enhance financial well-being and provide peace of mind for Rotarians and their families across Uganda.
The newly unveiled Group Funeral Cover features annual premiums ranging from UGX 95,000 to UGX 250,000, designed to make essential financial support accessible in the unfortunate event of a bereavement. A key highlight of this initiative is its fully digitized platform, allowing Rotarians to onboard, purchase policies, and submit claims conveniently. Members can access the service by dialing *228#, sending a message to the official WhatsApp line at 0709 460 552, or utilizing a secure online portal, ensuring immediate access and ease of use.

This collaboration extends beyond a single product offering. Old Mutual Life Assurance has committed to actively support a range of Rotary initiatives, including the annual Rotary Cancer Run, basic literacy programs, financial literacy campaigns, and various tree planting projects. This broader engagement aligns with Old Mutual’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability objectives.
Patrick Kimathi, Managing Director of Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. “We are proud to partner with Rotary Uganda as a key strategic partner in helping us achieve our sustainability goal to build strong and prosperous communities, running a sustainable business and protecting the planet,” Kimathi stated during the announcement. “By working hand in hand, we’re not just providing financial protection to Rotarians; we’re also creating lasting impact through shared values and meaningful action.”
Anne Nkutu, Rotary Uganda’s District Governor for District 9213, which covers Uganda, underscored the synergy between the two organizations. “Rotary stands for service above self. This partnership with Old Mutual Life Assurance is a reflection of our shared values — community, dignity, and impact,” Nkutu said. “The Group Funeral Cover provides our members with a dignified solution that brings peace of mind while strengthening the bonds of solidarity across the Rotary fraternity.”
The partnership leverages Rotary Uganda’s extensive grassroots network, which connects nearly 10,000 Rotarians across the country, with Old Mutual’s established expertise in insurance and innovative digital solutions. This collaboration is expected to redefine how Rotarians experience financial protection, convenience, and community support in Uganda.
