KAMPALA —Award winning photojournalist Alex Esagala tied the knot on weekend with his girlfriend— Mercy Nalintya after government restrictions on weddings were lifted.
The couple had been planning to get married early this year, but twice for coronavirus containment protocols, they had to put it off.
For now, they were thrilled to tie the knot in the sunshine at Speke Resort Munyonyo at the weekend surrounded by family and friends, including tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia of Ruparelia Group.
Other guests were State Minister of Defence Jacob Marksons Oboth Oboth, Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and government Chief Whip Thomas Bangirana Tayebwa.
Member of Parliament Hon Nathan Itungo of Kashari North and Deputy Ambassador of Uganda to Sudan Dickson Ogwang also graced the wedding.
The memorable celebrations took place at Speke Resort Munyonyo and friends in attendance. Work-mates of the popular lens icon were also present, as were Mercy’s friends and other stars from different fields.
Esagala’s former workmate at Daily Monitor, Dominc Bukenya was his bestman, while Mercy’s teenager friends gave her away.
Esagala’s close friend and workmate at Daily Monitor Mr. Abu Lubowa was part of the groomsmen.
Other groomsmen were Patrick Mukasa of NTV Uganda, David Lubowa also a photojournalist with Daily Monitor and David Kamira, the Manager Platinum credit Branch Ntinda.
And it appears the couple are even honeymooning at Munyonyo – but when the money is available, why wouldn’t you?
Last weekend, Mercy, who is the last born among the eight children, introduced Esagala to her parents in Kaliro District.
The two lovers are now expected to give birth to kids anytime soon since they have legalized their marriage officially.
Congratulations to the young power couple in the land.
