Pilsner Lager has reaffirmed its commitment towards supporting the annual Kabaka Birthday Run- a flagship event leading up to the birthday celebration of the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

The run is scheduled for this Sunday, 12th of April at Lubiri Mengo under the theme “Men for good health to save the girl child and the fight to end HIV/AIDS by 2030.”

This strategic initiative is aims to address infection rates while calling upon more men to take charge in prevention and health awareness to achieve global targets.

This was made during a media briefing held at Bulange gardens graced by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga and other partners.

“This year marks 13 years of uniting Ugandans to run for a noble cause- the fight to end HIV/AIDS by 2023. Today, we acknowledge all our partners who have played a pivotal role towards the organization of the run and their unwavering support towards promoting better livelihoods of the Kabaka’s subjects and Ugandans at large”, remarked the Katikiro.

The Kabaka Run is a foundation of unity, social development and transformation, playing a
significant role in addressing societal challenges such as HIV/AIDS.

For the past 6 years, the run has targeted the same cause and attracted participation from over 100k runners, Lillian Kansiime, Brand Manager Mainstream Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), emphasized that the sponsorship is anchored in Pilsner’s commitment towards celebration of culture.

“Our long-standing relationship with the Buganda Kingdom, from our sponsorship of the Masaza Cup to now the Kabaka Birthday Run, reflects Pilsner Lager’s deep appreciation for the power of culture to bring people together around shared purpose.

By supporting the Kabaka Birthday Run, we are not only celebrating a meaningful cultural moment, but also strengthening our connection with our consumers by aligning with what matters to them; their identity, their values, and the experiences that unite communities,” she said,” she said.

The Birthday Run precedes the Kabaka’s 71st Birthday celebrations and comprises of three routes; 5, 10 and 21km.
