ENTEBBE, Uganda — Police in Entebbe are investigating the double murder of a couple found stabbed to death in their home, authorities said Tuesday.

David Mutaaga, 69, and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaaga, 62, were discovered dead at their residence on Research Road in Lugonjo Nakiwogo Cell, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District. A worker at the household reported a suspected attack to police on July 6.

Preliminary examinations revealed both victims sustained fatal stab wounds, according to Assistant Superintendent of Police Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police. Their bodies were taken to the City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations.

Family sources indicated the couple was murdered at night, with David Mutaaga found near the gate and Deborah Mutaaga in the bedroom. There was no sign of forced entry into the home, which has a perimeter wall and security cameras that were not tampered with. The gate is remote-controlled.

Owoyesigyire stated that several exhibits have been recovered for forensic analysis, and the motive behind the “heinous crime” is still under investigation. Police are working to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects.

The police condemned the act and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, promising further updates as the investigation continues. Family sources noted the couple had hosted people at their home earlier in the day on July 6.
