KAMPALA- Democratic Party (DP) member , Benedicto Kiwanuka Galiko , one of those pushing for legal reforms within the Party has asked Hon. Nobert Mao (Party President) and Hon Gerald Siranda (Secretary General) to avoid emotions and act as per the Party’s Constitution.

“As a person with strong attachment to my Party, I have come up to join other members in ensuring that our remains on the foundation of Truth and justice.”
He pointed that he recently heard Hon Gerald Siranda attacking him for not having renewed his membership as a full Party member.
“We are not like other parties because for us we pay annual subscription to keep our party moving. All activities regarding member registration can’t happen at this moment when we don’t have any legally elected Party leadership.”
Therefore he added that any activity taking place before the court ruling, will be termed illegal because they don’t have powers to do so.
“The valid card for Democratic Party is that of 2020 during Mao’s term which kicked off from Katomi after a successful electoral process. For all along as DP we lack a legally elected Party President.”
This week, High court in Kampala is expected to deliver a ruling in a matter filed by Galiko challenging the actions of top party leadership who disobeyed Justice Philip Odoki’s order which declared them as illegal.
