KAMPALA — Dr. Hillary Kisanja Musoke, the architecture of a number of presidential initiatives and Personal Assistant to Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has implored young leaders to get interested in all available government livelihood programs such as Emyooga, Parish Model and Operation Wealth Creation to enable them get rid of poverty and unemployment.

Kisanja was speaking at an event held by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba loyalists —calling themselves — ‘Friends of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’ who convened at Sheraton Hotel Kampala to help whip up the presidential ambition of the First Son, who is yet to express interest in replacing his father Gen. Museveni as president of Uganda.

He asked them to mobilize the fellow youth to be the closest monitors of the available government poverty eradication programs.

“First create wealth, have money but mostly preach government programmes that President Museveni has initiated,” he said, also telling them that they have a constitutional right to support Muhoozi.

“It is your right given to you by the constitution of Uganda. But as team Muhoozi, can you create relevance? Are you relevant to the public, are you monitoring service delivery, are you using us who are there to help support the jobless young people or those who have something to do but can still be supported through the existing government programmes? ”

He added:” You must consolidate this [Muhoozi] project with tangible results on ground. We must be ambassadors and role models so that people can believe and have trust in us.”

Kisanja also urged the team to deploy like minded colleagues in all universities to preach Muhoozi Project ideology — saying the voices that are “disorienting the youth and the young generation speak louder than you who have the right vision”.

“When they start shouting, even if you’re more than 100, five of them will outspeak you. Then you start hiding. Tomorrow, we get Cocroaches in Parliament. Some of Opposition members are Cocroaches and are the one deliberating for you”.

“Some people who have never been employed on a salary of UGX. 200, 000 per month, is now an MP deliberating for you. I won’t mention names but me, I know because that team, 70% of them are my friends. Someone who has never been a prefect is now deliberating on the budget of this country Uganda”.

“Someone who has no education background, not even a degree is developing policies, approving and disapproving policies. We can’t allow this to continue,” Kisanja said.

Muhoozi Project chairman Mr. Julius Lyvine Kashugi who claims that ‘mafia groups’ are plotting to steal the project from him urged the youth to preach Muhoozi Project without fear.

Kashugi who built the project from 2014 said Muhoozi is like any other Ugandan and that he has a right to join politics if he wishes so.

Muhoozi loyalists launched an aggressive social media campaign for a 2026 presidential bid for Muhoozi hardly six months into President Museveni’s new term.

After eight quiet years, the campaign and campaigners for the Muhoozi project are finally striding out of the closet since the former coordinator of Intelligence Services General David Sejusa kicked up a national storm in April 2013 when he claimed that there was a plot to assassinate senior government officials opposed to the Muhoozi presidency.

In an interview with France 24, Gen. Museveni denied grooming his son to succeed him.

Museveni said Ugandans will choose whoever they want to be president.

Despite the downplay by President Museveni, the Muhoozi project seems to be taking shape eight years down the road since the Sejusa missive appeared in the media.

Five years ago, Muhoozi dismissed the alleged Muhoozi project saying he was comfortable serving in the military. “…I do not have the intentions to be president. I am very happy serving the military and it is where I intend to stay for some time…”
