The ninth round of Premier League action is headlined by the meeting of Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford on the evening of Sunday 24 October. While the Red Devils are still fighting to establish themselves as true title contenders, Jurgen Klopp’s team is a lot further along in their development and will be looking to send a message at ‘The Theatre of Dreams.

“These games are always a great motivation for everyone involved,” said Klopp. “It’s a great challenge to play a team with such talent at their disposal, but we will look to impose our own way of playing and take the game to Man United.”

The weekend’s Premier League action opens with a potential thriller on Friday 22 October when Arsenal, who have recovered from their awful start to the season and are looking to build momentum, take on a dangerous Aston Villa outfit.

“We have to improve individually and collectively and prepare well because a roller-coaster is coming with the number of games,” said Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

Saturday’s early clash sees Chelsea looking to rack up a big win over struggling Norwich City at Stamford Bridge, as well as a bevy of afternoon games which features Everton tackling Watford at Goodison Park and hoping that Andros Townsend can continue his fine form, before the day is wrapped with the late kick-off between Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester City on the South Coast.

Sunday, aside from the united v Liverpool game, also sees Brentford host Leicester City and a London derby between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, with the latter’s manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, hoping to see his team get back to the consistency they enjoyed early in the season.
