President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has in Sunday afternoon arrived in Uganda after four years of bickering.

Muhoozi is credited with a significant role in mediating the Rwanda – Uganda standoff that saw Katuna/Gatuna border closed for close to 3 years.

Kigali had accused Kampala of allowing dissidents and armed groups to use parts of the country as a base to plan attacks to destabilise Rwanda.

President Kagame is expected attend General Muhoozi 48th Birthday celebrations to be held at State House Entebbe where he will also hold talks with President Museveni.

Museveni, who has been in power since 1986, is an erstwhile mentor of Kagame. President Kagame’s career began as a lieutenant in the Museveni’s National Resistance Army (NRA).

For years, the two leaders were by each other’s side and supported one another to climb the ladder of power in their respective countries.

But more recently, relations between the two leaders has been, at best, frosty.

Kagame, 62, accused his former ally of backing rebel groups and dissidents who want to bring down the government in Kigali.

Kagame was last in the country on March 25, 2018 for a one day visit at President Yoweri Museveni’s invite where the two principals held official talks in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
