KCCA Netball Club and She Cranes goal shooter Shadia Nassanga, popularly known as Miima, has been crowned the Fortebet Real Stars Netball Player of the Month for December after a sensational run of form that blended team success with personal brilliance.
Nassanga enjoyed a glittering December, headlined by her instrumental role in guiding the She Cranes to victory at the Celtic Cup in Scotland. Uganda lifted the trophy in impressive fashion, with Nassanga’s clinical shooting earning her the tournament’s Most Valuable Player accolade.
Her scoring prowess remained evident at the 2025 Africa Netball Championship in Lilongwe, Malawi, where she finished as Uganda’s most reliable shooter. Despite falling short in the final against South Africa, the She Cranes claimed a commendable silver medal, with Nassanga once again standing out on the continental stage.
Back home, Miima capped off a dream month by leading KCCA Netball Club to their first-ever National Netball Super League title. She emerged as the top scorer in a pulsating final as KCCA edged holders Prisons Netball Club 44–41 on December 29 at Nakivubo Stadium, sealing a historic triumph for the city outfit.
Her all-round excellence saw her edge competition from teammate Shaffie Nalwanja and NIC goal attacker and She Cranes captain Racheal Nanyonga to clinch the December Real Stars honour.
The prolific shooter received her award at a ceremony held on Thursday afternoon at Molecule Restaurant in Kololo, where she appeared in a chic black-and-white outfit. Speaking after the recognition, Nassanga was quick to credit her support system.
“It never crossed my mind that I would be voted the best player for December,” she said. “I glorify Allah for this achievement. This is not an individual effort; it is a result of teamwork from my teammates and guidance from our coaches.”
The award marks Nassanga’s first Fortebet Real Stars accolade since August 2023, signaling her emphatic return to the pinnacle of Ugandan netball.
Elsewhere at the ceremony, Sana Omprakash clinched the chess award ahead of Juliet Asaba and Apollo Muhumuza, while veteran tennis coach and former player John Oduke was honoured with the Life Achievers Award for his outstanding contribution to the sport.
With international silverware, continental recognition, and historic club success all packed into one month, December was truly Miima’s — and the Fortebet Real Stars award was a fitting seal of approval.
